What another fantastic week we have had in Owls! We have loved continuing to get to know you all and seeing the wonderful progress you are making. Your impeccable manners and enthusiasm for learning have really impressed us—well done, everyone!
In Maths, we recapped our learning about money. You worked hard recognising coins and notes and making different amounts before completing an assessment—great effort! On Wednesday, we started our new topic all about telling the time. Can you show someone at home what you have learnt? Can you tell them when the clock shows o’clock, quarter past, half past and quarter to? See if you can explain the techniques we have been practising in class!
In English, we began exploring our new story, Spy Fox. You watched a short-animated clip and then used your brilliant memories to put the events in the correct order. We loved hearing about your favourite parts and seeing you explain your ideas through your writing and drawings. Later in the week, you became grammar detectives during our “treasure hunt” activity! Can you show someone at home how to spot an adjective, an adverb, an extended noun phrase and a word ending in -ed? Maybe you could even create your own treasure hunt this weekend!
In Phonics, we have been learning about “ey” words, making an “e” sound. We had lots of fun pretending to be frogs and practising our sounds together! You also explored what happens when words become plural and learnt about special words like “money,” which do not change. Well done for all your hard work in reading and practising your new words. Don’t forget to visit Spelling Shed to keep practising at home.
In Science, we started our new topic on living things and their habitats. The highlight of the week was our exciting “blubber glove” experiment! Can you tell someone at home what we did and what you found out? What was your favourite part?
Well done for another brilliant week of learning, Owls—we are very proud of you all!
Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine. We can’t wait to see you again next week.
