WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

W/c 12th October 2026

What a busy week the Puffins have had. It has included the evolution of the Stone Age people, first person and past tense, animals and humans and much more! Read on to find out…

In English we have begun our new genre of writing, Diary Entries. We worked on past tense and first-person words and sentences. We then thought about what a Stone Age child would see and feel, do and hear when they work up in their cave. We used first person and past tense verbs to help us practice for when we begin writing our diary entries next week.

In Maths we have revised the formal method of addition and moved on to exchanging the tens and hundreds to carry them forward. We have also begun the formal method of column subtraction. Can you explain this True or False question to your grown up?

In our Topic lesson this week we have summarised all that we have learnt about the Stone Age so far. We thought about how house changed, how food changed and how clothes and tools changed. We then thought about the life of a Stone Age child and compared it to the lives of the Puffins now. Can you remember any of the things that were similar?

We have started our new unit in Science of Animals and Humans. The Puffins explained all of the things animals needed to survive, and we compared this to Plants to help us consolidate our learning.

Our Spellings will be handed out on Monday this week, but we are on week 7 of the Autumn term.

I hope you have a lovely weekend

Stay safe

Mrs Karamucki
