Another busy week in Puffins' class! It has involved transition days, descriptive writing and conversions! Read on to find out more!
In English this week, we have been learning how to improve our descriptive writing. We thought carefully about how we could create expanded noun phrases using interesting vocabulary as well as adding relative clauses and fronted adverbials to add extra information. We also revisited how to use speech marks (inverted commas).
In Maths, the Year 5s have been learning how to convert between a range of measurements. This week we have learnt how to convert between millimetres, centimetres and metres as well as millilitres and litres. We will continue this next week.
Most of our Year 6s have experienced their first taste of secondary school this week when they attended their transition days! We had lots of excitement on Thursday morning as they couldn’t wait to tell us all about what they had been up to! It sounds like they had a fantastic time!
Year 5 also got to experience a couple of days as Year 6s as we spent some time in our new Year 6 classes and completed some fun activities!
Drama Club -
Over the last few weeks, a group of our Year 5 children have been busy rehearsing for their short production of Peter Pan, which will be showcased at the Repton Festival this weekend. On Tuesday, they had a dress rehearsal at Pears Hall, and on Wednesday, they performed for the Year 5 children to help get them used to being on stage and performing in front of an audience. The children have worked incredibly hard to put on an amazing show, and we all wish them the best of luck for their final performance on Saturday (4th July). I know they will put on a fantastic show!
Homework –
Year 5 children have been sent home with a piece of Maths and English homework this week. This needs returning on Tuesday 7th July please. We ask that both year 5 and 6 continue to practise their spellings, times tables and read at home as much as possible alongside this. Year 6 need to continue practising their lines for our play and the song lyrics please!
