This week has involved Cricket, The Boy in the Tower, negative numbers and decimals and Matilda. Read on to find out more...
In English this week we have delved more into the Boy in the Tower in both our English and Guided Reading lessons. We have written a newspaper article based on the George falling down and predicted what is going to happen next. Our newspaper articles involved us thinking about how the characters would feel with buildings falling down around them with no obvious explanation, as well as what the onlookers could have thought demolished the buildings.
The Year 6’s spent Monday at Derby Cricket Ground, exploring behind the scenes and playing some cricket as well.
Year 5 have been learning about decimals and negative numbers, linking negative numbers real world situations.
Year 6 have carried on rehearsing and preparing their wonderful production of Matilda.
Some of the Year 5s and 6s were also chosen to participate in a Kwik Cricket tournament on Thursday. Although it was very hot they all played brilliantly and came third out of seven teams.
In Science we have planned and carried out an investigation centred around electricity and circuits. Next week we will be retesting to ensure our results were accurate and then analysing what the results show us.
On Friday, the Year 6s were invited to go an watch the Snow Dragon at the 400 Hall. Another brilliant show was put on by the Repton students!
Year 5 were given their homework on Tuesday, please let me know if there are any problems with it.
