Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Our EYFS children took part in a fabulous Easter bonnet parade today. The Easter bonnets were all amazing. It was clear to see the care and creativity that went into them. All children were awarded a prize of an Easter egg for their fabulous efforts.
Our EYFS children visited St Wystan's church this week to learn all about the features of a church. We were hosted by Reverend Steve Short who gave the children a guided tour and did some fun activities such as singing songs, playing the organ and ringing the church bells. The children had a great time and now have a much greater understanding about the features of a church.
On Thursday, we had the privilege of taking 10 School Council members to The Houses of Parliament. This was a truely amazing opportunity to learn first hand about democracy and how laws are made in this country. We got to watch the MPs and Lords in the House of Commons and House of Lords! The children were excellent and got so much from their experience and took in some of London's most famous land marks on the way. We even saw The King drive past at Buckingham Palace! When the tour of Pariament had finished we got to meet our South Derbyshire MP, Samantha Niblett, who took time out of her busy schedule to meet the children and answer some excellent questions. The children coped with all the walking and were a credit to RPS. Well done to all the children and adults invloved!
World Book Day was yet again another huge success at RPS! Thanks for supporting the event so well. I hope you enjoyed the 'Masked Reader' that Mr Armishaw organised. Each child decorated a wooden spoon as a character - see pictures below! A big thank you to Mr Armishaw for organising the day.
For some reason the Hedgehogs' photo is blurry but Mr Armishaw says they are also on the Hedghogs class page.
On Thursday, some of our Year 4 girls took part in the FA's biggest girls' football evet at St George's Park. After a fun-filled morning of football games and activities the girls won their group and proceeded to the knock out stage in the afternoon. They lost out in the quarter finals, losing one nil to Edge Hill Primary. The girls had an amazing day and loved the experience. Well done to them all!
