Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Our Year 5 children have commenced their brass lessons with the Derbyshire Music Partnership. Each year our Year 5 children learn a musical instrument and this year we have chosen brass instruments. Each week our children will learn music, songs and to eventually play an instrument.
Last Thursday the Book Bus visited RPS. This mobile book fayre gave children the chance to purchase books to develop and encourage their love of reading. We were amazed at how many books our children purchased - over £1200 in fact! As a result, school received over £200 worth of books for the classrooms. Thank you very much for supporting this and to Mrs Pushkarich for organising the event.
Mr Tague started his lunchtime chess club last week. The club is aimed initially at children in Year 5 and 6 but might open to other year groups eventually.
Last week our Otters, Puffins and Foxes were treated to a fantastic enrichment day to bring their Maya history topic to life. The children were treated to a fantastic fun-filled educational day by the world renowned Maya archaeologist Dr Diane Davies. She has produced countless books and publications on the Maya civilisation and enjoyed sharing this wealth of knowledge with our children. The Maya civilisation existed from as far back as 2000BC. Our children learnt a great deal which has hooked them into this term's history topic.
