Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Recently, our Year 2s and 6s had their annual first aid training delivered by Keep a Beats. As always our children behaved perfectly and received vital life saving skills to help keep everyone safe.
On the 5th November we attempted our first ever fireworks night organised by our PTFA and it was a huge success! We sold all the tickets and welcomed over 300 of you into school. With the cost of fireworks we still managed to make the event a successful fund raiser for our school which will go back to our children. Thank you all for supporting the event and making it a success!
Some of our children were invited to the Village Hall to visit Pudsey on Children in Need Day. When they arrived, they had a party table set up with a gift bag each of goodies and fun things. They were all given a Pudsey cake and a drink and of course met Pudsey. They had a lovely time. Thank you to all at the Maple Tree Cafe for inviting us.
This week, our reception children had a balanceability session. The coaches from South Derbyshire Active partnership brought in a set of balance bikes and taught the children essential skills. They also played games and had lots of fun. All children improved their skills and confidence.
Recently our Seals entered a poetry competition with Wonderverse and were winners meaning that their poetry is going to be published in a book of poems. Well done Seals!
Yesterday our Hedgehogs went on a fantastic trip to Sudbury Children's Country House to enhance their history topic. They learnt about childhood and toys through the years through interactive sessions. The children loved the trip and learnt a great deal to help them with their topic. Their behaviour was perfect of course! Thanks to all the adults that helped on the trip too.
Our KS2 school councillors went to the Repton British Legion today to do an important job. They assembled and filled many poppy boxes ready to be sent out across South Derbyshire, ready to be sold for Remembrance Day. They were perfectly behaved and did a fantastic job in record time! As a reward, they were given two special poppy pin badges. Thank you to Zandra and Chris from the Repton British Legion for inviting us.
We have been part of the Global Schools' Project for a few years now linked with Kids' League Kenya. This project gives our children the opportunity to meet up with children from Kenya online and learn more about their school and culture. In the summer I had the privilege of visiting the schools in Kenya that we are twinned with. Yesterday, the staff met online to discuss the next stage and focus of the project. We shared our start to the new term and the things we are focussing on.
On Thursday (10th October) a group of talented artists from RPS were invited to an art workshop in Repton School's art studio. Mr Whitfield and his team welcomed our artists and they enjoyed a fantastic session which allowed them to be creative and get messy! The children explored with plaster of Paris and colours to create different textures. The children were focussed and thoroughly enjoyed the session - their behaviour was perfect - well done. See the pictures below.
Our Year 5 children have commenced their brass lessons with the Derbyshire Music Partnership. Each year our Year 5 children learn a musical instrument and this year we have chosen brass instruments. Each week our children will learn music, songs and to eventually play an instrument.
