  • Y3 Bushcraft Residential

    Wed 21 Jun 2023 S Tague

On the 12th June I had the pleasure of accompanying our Year 3 children, Mrs Karamucki and Mrs Walters on their bushcraft residential. This was the very first time that we had attempted this type of residential. It was fantastic and the children got the chance to acquire a wide range of skills including first aid. They slept well in their tents and put their skills into practise with a simulated aeroplane crash. Our children were fantastic from start to finish. Well done and thanks to the staff for organising it. Check out the Y3 class pages to see pictures.

  • Year 6 residential to The Hollowford Centre

    Wed 21 Jun 2023 S Tague

On 7th June I had the pleasure of accompanying our Year 6s on their residential to Castleton in The Peak District. It was the first time that we had used The Hollowford Centre and we are glad we did! Our Ravens were given a packed timetable which gave them the opportunity to push themselves to their limits through a wide range of activities. Most of the activities involved travelling off site via minibus. These included abseiling off the viaduct at Millers dale, 'weaseling' amongst the rocks near Stanage Edge and canoeing on a reservoir. Our children really did us proud. Well done to the Y6 staff for organising this event.

On Friday 16th June some of our KS1 children participated in South Derbyshire ASP's Football tournament at Melbourne Sports Partnership. Our children played brilliantly as a team and were unbeaten until the final game to Etwall which meant we were runners up. Our children as always behaved perfectly and they represented our school proudly. Thanks to Repton School for letting us use one of their mini buses. Well done everyone!

  • Coronation Colour Run

    Fri 05 May 2023 K Riley

Our whole school had great fun celebrating King Charles III coronation today.  We held a coronation colour run on the school field.  The children ran through clouds of coloured powder, becoming super colourful themselves!  It was a great event with lots of involvement from our parents and whole school community. Thank you to our PTA and everyone involved!

  • East Midlands Regional Swimming Competition

    Mon 24 Apr 2023 S Tague

On Friday (21st April), we had the privilege of taking part in a regional schools' swimming competition. The event, held at Repton School, was predominantly aimed at independent schools around the region but we were invited to take part alongside a few other state-maintained schools. Our Year 5 and 6 children did very well indeed - finishing 2nd in their medley and freestyle races. A big thank you to Repton for the invite and a huge congratulations to our children who represented our school proudly. Their behaviour was of course excellent at all times. Well done Emie, Charlotte, Martha and Jacob.

  • Eagles Live Link With Kenyan Schools

    Wed 29 Mar 2023 S Tague

This afternoon our Y5 Eagles had a live link up via video call with their partner schools in Kenya. It was great for our children to share their 'season' poems with the other children. They were able to ask and answer questions from the children in Kenya.

  • Robins visit to St Wystan's church

    Fri 24 Mar 2023 KRiley

  • Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal

    Tue 07 Feb 2023 S Tague

We have just had our 'thank you' letter from the RBL for the money we raised for the Poppy Appeal in the autumn. Your kind donations helped us raise an amazing £519.28 for the appeal - thank you so much!

  • Year 5 Eagles live link with Kenyan schools

    Fri 03 Feb 2023 S Tague

This afternoon our Eagles had a live link up as a part of our Global Schools' Partnership. Along with a school in Castle Donington and Leicester, they linked up with three schools in Kenya who had gathered together at the Global Schools' Charity building in Mombasa. Our children got to ask the Kenyan children questions and they, in turn, asked our children questions too. Our children learned that the children in Kenya went to school from 8am till 4pm 6 days a week with only two weeks holiday a year! They talked about favourite food, animals and countries. Our children were very shocked to learn that some classes in Kenya have over 100 children in a single class! It was a fantastic experience for our children to chat and ask questions live to children in Kenya. Thanks to Mrs Cotton for continuing to support the project.
