Year 6 have recently played some football matches. On Thursday 22nd June they played Heathfields. They won one, drew one and lost one. On Monday 3rd July they played two Findern teams. The first game our Year 6s won 4 nil and in the second game they won 6 nil. All the children played well and represented school proudly. Their behaviour was excellent at all times. Well done!
On Tuesday 27th June we were invited to watch the Year 9 performance of Cat in The Hat at Repton School. Our children walked up to the school en masse and were perfectly behaved. The show itself was amazing and our children were mesmorised. After the show the staff at Repton treated us to ice lollies and drinks. We would like to thank Repton for inviting us to this great show and for their wonderful hospitality.
Our Robins class had a fabulous trip to Twycross Zoo today. They enjoyed seeing lots of animals, feeding the lorikeets and having a lovely picnic! All of the children were brilliantly behaved and had a great time. If you would like to see the photos of our visit, please click on the link below to see the photos on our class page.

On the 12th June I had the pleasure of accompanying our Year 3 children, Mrs Karamucki and Mrs Walters on their bushcraft residential. This was the very first time that we had attempted this type of residential. It was fantastic and the children got the chance to acquire a wide range of skills including first aid. They slept well in their tents and put their skills into practise with a simulated aeroplane crash. Our children were fantastic from start to finish. Well done and thanks to the staff for organising it. Check out the Y3 class pages to see pictures.
On 7th June I had the pleasure of accompanying our Year 6s on their residential to Castleton in The Peak District. It was the first time that we had used The Hollowford Centre and we are glad we did! Our Ravens were given a packed timetable which gave them the opportunity to push themselves to their limits through a wide range of activities. Most of the activities involved travelling off site via minibus. These included abseiling off the viaduct at Millers dale, 'weaseling' amongst the rocks near Stanage Edge and canoeing on a reservoir. Our children really did us proud. Well done to the Y6 staff for organising this event.

On Friday 16th June some of our KS1 children participated in South Derbyshire ASP's Football tournament at Melbourne Sports Partnership. Our children played brilliantly as a team and were unbeaten until the final game to Etwall which meant we were runners up. Our children as always behaved perfectly and they represented our school proudly. Thanks to Repton School for letting us use one of their mini buses. Well done everyone!
Our whole school had great fun celebrating King Charles III coronation today. We held a coronation colour run on the school field. The children ran through clouds of coloured powder, becoming super colourful themselves! It was a great event with lots of involvement from our parents and whole school community. Thank you to our PTA and everyone involved!
We were very lucky to have two coaches from Soccer Stars to teach our reception children football skills in PE today. The children really enjoyed it and we have a few stars in the making!
On Friday (21st April), we had the privilege of taking part in a regional schools' swimming competition. The event, held at Repton School, was predominantly aimed at independent schools around the region but we were invited to take part alongside a few other state-maintained schools. Our Year 5 and 6 children did very well indeed - finishing 2nd in their medley and freestyle races. A big thank you to Repton for the invite and a huge congratulations to our children who represented our school proudly. Their behaviour was of course excellent at all times. Well done Emie, Charlotte, Martha and Jacob.
