Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Our Robins class received a visit from some baby goslings this week. The children enjoyed holding them and learning about them.
We have had a fabulous day celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The children all looked great dressed in red, white and blue and all enjoyed our picnic lunch on the field. In the lead up to the celebration the children made bunting, flags and decorations which were waved and displayed on the day. Each class also painted portraits of the Queen which were displayed in the school hall. It was great as each class chose a different style. Please see the photos below.
Last night (30th March) three of our Y6 children went to Linton Primary for the Go Ride event. The event was organised by South Derbyshire Active Sports Partnership and gave children the chance to compete in a series of off road mountain bike challenges. Our children thoroughly enjoyed themselves despite the arctic conditions! Well done to all three.
We were very lucky today to receive a visit from three lambs from a local farm. The children had the opportunity to stroke, hold and feed them. Thank you very much to our reception parents Mr and Mrs Falder for bringing the lambs in to see our children today. It was a great experience. Please see the photos below.
We had a very successful Red Nose Day. Everyone dressed up in our theme of "crazy clothes" and we raised lots of money for Comic Relief. The children held a cake sale and took part in red nose day events throughout the day. We brought in a bottle top to represent our on-line donations and filled a red nose!
Fantastic participation for WBD again. Thank you so much for supporting your child with this event.
This morning Mrs Riley took our Y5 school councillors to take part in a speed aware exercise in the community with Officer Bob. They helped to check the speed of local motorists to ensure everyone was travelling within the safe limit. The school council members, Jack, Minnie, Vivek and Pippa learnt first hand the importance of driving safely.
Today The Robins class were very lucky to receive some balanceability training. Sean, our coach showed the children how to ride a balance bike safely. They practised gliding and stopping and riding around obstacles with control. They also had some mini races and played some games at the end, once they had developed their skills. It was great fun and the children had smiles on their faces throughout.
Yesterday I took the fantastic donations that our community have given this year for our harvest festival. The decision was made to donate our produce to the Hill Street Baptist Church food bank in Swadlincote as some of our families have benefited from this over the past year. Petra, pictured here with Mr Tague, was overwhelmed by the generosity of our school community and said this will go a long way and was very much appreciated.
Thank you again to everyone that donated this year.
