• Year 2 Trip to Carsington Water

  Year 2 had a super trip to Carsington Water this week. The children learned about plants and wetland habitats. Their behaviour was perfect all day. Thanks to Repton School for letting us use their minibus for the day.

• Comic Relief 2021

  We can still have fun and raise money for this great cause even during these restrictive times. Thanks to Mrs Riley and our school council for coming up with the ideas. Children were dressed either as super heroes, in something red or Comic Relief merch.

  All classes did fun activities and some classes did a talent show. Well done to all those children that took part!

• Return to school for all children on 8th March

  Following on from The Prime Minister’s announcement last night that all school children in England will return to school on 8^th March we are looking forward to welcoming all our children back on this date. This news is very exciting as a full school means we are more like the Repton Primary that we all know again. The return in March to all children does not pose us with any panic or stress and we will revert back to the successful system that we had in place in September. The first term was a huge success in terms of very limited disruption so we intend to follow this again. We will of course welcome children back within these current restrictions until such a time, like the end of June, might allow us to ease measures even further.

   

  So in the meantime, from 8^th March, it will mean that all children will have a window of arrival in the morning, staggered play and lunchtimes and a staggered end to the school day. These arrangements will be as follows:

   

  Start of day:

   

  8.45 – 9am: Children arrive at school

   

  End of day:

   

  3pm: Reception, Year 1 and Year 2

   

  3.05pm: Year 3

   

  3.10pm: Year 4/5 and 6

   

  As before if you have a younger and older child please collect at the older child’s later time and the younger child will wait with their teacher.

   

  Lunches

   

  The smaller bubbles currently have meant that it has been possible to get all children through the dinner hall in the short space of time. With a full school however, this will not be possible with the bubble system. Therefore, it would be easier if your child brought in their own sandwiches but if they did want a cooked dinner then these would be available but would temporarily revert back to a take away style lunch. Of course if your child is in Reception, Year 1 or 2 or is entitled to a free school meal then these will be catered for. We will also plan to get Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 through the dinner hall in their allotted time.

   

  Breakfast and after school clubs:

   

  With all children returning to school and potentially parents returning to the workplace we are going to reopen our breakfast and after school provisions.

  School Uniform

   

  We expect all children to return in their full school uniform but we are also sympathetic to situations where children might have grown out of shoes or uniform items and places have been closed. If this is the case then please let your class teacher know.

• PTA Dress Like a Firework Day 2020

  It was fantastic to see our children dressed in lovely bright and sparkly clothes today like fireworks! By doing this we have raised some much needed funds for our PTA to help us develop our Forest School area. Well done for all those that took part. 

  

• Tom Palmer virtual author visit

  Today, famous author, Tom Palmer payed us a visit via Microsoft Teams. Despite the current restrictions that we are working within we are still trying to enhance our children's learning experiences. It was great for our Year 4 and 5 children to meet Tom and ask him some questions with children from St Wystan's School. Thanks to Mrs Webb for organising it.

  

• Pumpkin Competition 2020

  Another fantastic effort from all our families in our annual pumpkin competition. Well done to everyone that entered and especially our winners!

  

• Positive Covid-19 case in Year 6

  Following the notification of a Year 6 child testing positive to Covid-19 we immediately contacted the DfE advice line and followed all public health advice and correct procedures to put all the necessary actions in place.

  All children in Year 6 have been told to self-isolate until 14th October. The rest of the school remains open as normal with our control measures in place throughout the school for all pupils in line with our risk assessment and government guidelines.

  We are also receiving local advice and support from Derbyshire County Council’s public health team and will continue to keep the parents of all our pupils informed.

• Another lovely visit from Officer Bob!

  As always it was lovely to welcome Office Bob to our school this morning. It was fantastic to have him on the playground to help us welcome our families for another exciting week. Thanks to Melbourne and Mercia Police SNT for the great work you do in our community.
